International Modern Media Institute - Reykjavík, Iceland

Founded in 2011, the International Modern Media Institute (IMMI) seeks to promote freedom of information, speech, and expression in a borderless world. This ambition is based on the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative, a resolution unanimously adopted by the Icelandic Parliament in 2010. The resolution received widespread support for its effort to create a safe haven for journalism, and has since become a global standard.

IMMI has collaborated with international institutions and the academic community to create debate and research on the topics of freedom of expression, speech, information dissemination, and source protection. It offers advice and guidance on legislation in those areas, both in Iceland and abroad.
